Privacy policy
In short: the app collects nothing about you. There's no account, and there are no adverts or analytics. The surname you type stays on your phone.
Who we are
Clans & Tartans, from Caledonian Roots, is published by Kennedy Advisory, a sole proprietorship registered in Singapore (UEN 53527056M) and owned by Michael Kennedy. Contact: [email protected].
What stays on your phone
All the clan, tartan and history information is stored inside the app. When you search, the app looks up the surname on your phone, and nothing you type is sent to us or to anyone else.
The app also keeps a few settings on your phone, such as the tartan you choose for the widget. Deleting the app removes them.
The app doesn't connect to any server of ours. If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply to you.
Services the app uses
- Apple sells the app through the App Store. We don't receive your name, your Apple Account or your payment details.
- Your App Store country is read on your device to decide which shop links to show. It isn't sent to us.
- Apple Maps draws the maps on clan pages and the Lands screen. When one opens, your phone loads it from Apple, under Apple's privacy policy. The app doesn't ask for your location.
- Links to other sites, such as the Caledonian Roots shop, the Scottish Register of Tartans and Wikipedia, open those sites. Each has its own privacy policy.
Your rights
Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) applies to how we handle personal data, and the law where you live may apply too. The app collects none, so there's nothing on our side to correct, export or delete. If you have a question, email [email protected] and we'll aim to reply within 30 days.
Changes
If a later version of the app collects any information, we'll update this policy before that version is released and change the date at the top.
